The large-scale public welfare project "Hand in Hand China Reading Tour" jointly organized by FedEx and non-profit organization Hand in Hand China recently held a volunteer sharing event in five cities across the country. At this point, the five-month "FedEx Hand in Hand China Reading Tour" project has successfully concluded nationwide.
From March to July 2013, FedEx volunteers from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Suzhou, and Shenzhen accompanied children from local schools for migrant workers to participate in multiple reading themed activities held locally, including experiencing library borrowing, visiting universities, visiting city museums and science museums, etc. Volunteers actively help urban migrant children who lack reading resources and environment to experience the joy of reading, broaden their knowledge and vision, and create a platform for them to understand urban society by participating in this project.
At recent volunteer sharing events held in various regions, volunteers from FedEx reviewed the project's journey and shared their experiences with the children. The children also performed a wonderful performance on site to express their gratitude to the volunteers. Volunteers have expressed that this is a highly meaningful social welfare project, which provides migrant children in the city with the opportunity to experience local culture firsthand and help them integrate into urban life.
The "Hand in Hand China Reading Tour" project has attracted over 300 volunteers from five cities of FedEx to dedicate their precious spare time to participate, with a total service time of over 1000 hours.
